A spectacular stage win and a spell in the leader’s jersey at Tirreno-Adriatico were the highlights of the 2016 season for Zdenek, who showcased his skills once again in the one-day races, recording a solid string of top 10 placings in Strade Bianche, Ronde van Vlaanderen, Giro del Piemonte and Binche-Chimay-Binche.
“It’s been a good season for me: besides that victory in Italy, I got to race the cobbled Classics, the Olympics and the World Championships. For 2017 I don’t have any specific goals, I just want to continue my improvement and be better than in the previous year, repaying the team for its trust. I made some significant steps forward since joining Quick-Step Floors Cycling and if I will be able to continue like that, I’m sure other nice results will come.”
